How can something mean nothing? (and damn, why can't that sound less pretentious?)
Using only the basic elements of form and color, these works exist in a state that can be described as purely aesthetic.
However, this initial reading gradually gives way to our natural human tendency to assign importance or meaning to our experiences.
With the artist's attempt to express something meaningless, the viewer is allowed to have an active viewing experience in which the meaning is left up to their own interpretation.
Thus, the viewing of the work is found to be just as creative a process as the construction of the work itself.
